Governor-elect Laura Kelly announces State of State address details
Governor-elect Laura Kelly announced today that she will deliver the State of the State address to a joint session of the Kansas House of Representatives and Senate on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. The event will be begin at 6:00 p.m. in the House Chambers, with the speech starting promptly at 6:30 p.m.
“I’m excited to share my vision and blueprint with the people of Kansas. These past few weeks, I’ve reflected on the upcoming challenges and I’m ready to get to work,” said Kelly.
The House of Representatives will convene at 6:00 p.m. Between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. guests will be introduced and seated. Governor Laura Kelly will begin the State of the State address at 6:30 p.m. The TV pool feed will have audio and video, and the stream will begin at 6:30 p.m. Session will adjourn about 7:00 p.m.
The House Chamber will close at 4 p.m. for a security sweep. Any press who want to have equipment in the chamber needs to have it in place by 4:00 p.m. when the security sweep begins or the equipment will not be allowed in. The chamber will reopen at approximately 5:00 p.m. for guests to be seated.
